Mark Ruffalo Addresses Rumors of Being Fired as the MCU's Hulk
Mark Ruffalo, the actor who took on the iconic role of Bruce Banner/Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with The Avengers in 2012, has addressed the recent rumors of him being fired. Ruffalo, a fan favorite in the role, has been a staple in multiple Avengers films and Thor: Ragnarok. His last appearance in the MCU was as She-Hulk in 2022, with his next role set to be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day this summer.
In an interview promoting his new film, Crime 101, Ruffalo was asked about the rumors of his firing. He responded, "Not that I know of. People keep asking, 'Did you get fired?' I say, 'Not that I know of.'" His co-stars, Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry, also dismissed the rumors as "nonsense" and expressed their support for Ruffalo if the rumors were true.
Ruffalo continued, "I'll be there as long as they have me. I have a good relationship with them. You know, who knows, there might be things I'm already doing that are... I'm around. Let me just say that."
Given the industry's history of making headlines during major cast changes, fans can rest assured that Ruffalo is still part of the MCU for now. This serves as a reminder of the prevalence of baseless speculation online, emphasizing the importance of verifying sources.
While Ruffalo doesn't confirm anything, his comments hint at a potential appearance in a future Marvel project. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day wrapping production in December, Ruffalo might be referring to upcoming Avengers movies. He hasn't been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, but Marvel's tendency to hold surprises suggests he could be involved.
The scenario of Hulk being in Avengers: Doomsday becomes less likely due to the film's complex plot, which includes multiple superhero teams and the introduction of Doctor Doom. A more plausible option is bringing Hulk back for Avengers: Secret Wars, where he could have a more significant role. With a soft reset on the way, this could be a fitting send-off for Ruffalo's MCU journey.
